KERALA HC TO STATE – MAKE A DECISION REGARDING THE PROPOSAL TO RAISE THE SUPERANNUATION AGE OF HC STAFF – In view of judicial changes proposed on the basis of the “Model Digital Court,” the Kerala High Court has requested the State government to decide on the proposal made by a Committee of Judges regarding raising the age of superannuation for its workers.

J&K&L HC – ESTABLISH AN EXPERT COMMITTEE TO MAKE CHENAB VALLEY ACCIDENT FREE The UT Government has been ordered to establish an expert committee to investigate the causes of recurrent accidents on the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar Road in the Chenab Valley region and to recommend solutions to make the road accident-free.

  1. DELHI HC – THE TRADEMARK “ROOH AFZA” HAS GAINED IMMENSE GOODWILL – According to the Delhi High Court, the mark “Rooh Afza” has garnered significant goodwill and needs a high level of protection in order to ensure that its competitors keep their distance from it.

  1. DELHI HC – LAWYER RECEIVES NOTICE FROM DELHI HIGH COURT FOR INTERFERING WITH LEGAL PROCEEDINGS – The Delhi High Court has given a lawyer a show-cause notice for interfering with court proceedings, verbally abusing a sitting judge, and causing unruly in the judge’s courtroom.
  1. KER HC – IN FAMILY CASES, KER. HC PERMITS PARTIES TO SEEK THE DELETION OF PERSONAL IDENTITIES. – In cases involving family and matrimonial matters, the Kerala High Court ruled that personal information of parties may not be published on the website of the High Court if those parties so request. The court also allowed masking of individual identities in situations where the law does not recognise an open court system.

  1. P & H HC – IN THE CASE OF THE CHANDIGARH UNIVERSITY VIDEO LEAK, P&H HC GRANTS BAIL TO ARMY PERSONNEL. Sanjeev Singh, an Army officer who was detained in connection with the Chandigarh University video leak case, was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which noted that since the investigation was completed, the accused could not be held in custody indefinitely.

  1. ALL HC – CHINMAYANAND SARASWATI RECEIVES AN ANTICIPATED BAIL FROM ALLAHABAD HC – In connection with the 2011 Shahjahanpur Rape Case, the Allahabad High Court has granted interim anticipatory relief to former Union minister Chinmayanand Saraswati.

BOMBAY HC – CANNOT HARASS PEOPLE WITH THE LAW – The Bombay High Court noted that such legislation cannot be lightly invoked to endanger someone’s life and that it cannot be used as a tool for harassing or tormenting people in its decision to dismiss the FIR filed against a Solapur-based man for spying under the Official Secrets Act for taking photos of the police station.
